 “A Workable Balance: Report to Congress on Family and Medical Leave Policies” marks the tenth anniversary of the FMLA’s passage. The DoL found that the FMLA covered about two-thirds of American workplaces (66.1 percent), while well over half of the labor force is covered by the law (54.9 percent).

“New Jersey Employers’ Experiences Managing Employee Leaves and Turnover” utilizes interviews with thousands of New Jersey employers about their current leave policies and their adherence to the national Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). It found that New Jersey employers reported little abuse of FMLA and that many small employers, who aren’t covered by that law, voluntarily adhered to it anyway.
