Every credible economic study on the treaty paints a dark picture for the American people…the Kyoto treaty would cause energy prices to soar and the standard of living in our country to plummet…and result in the elimination of 2.4 million American jobs by the year 2010 and cost the average American family over $2,700 a year.
CRA has enabled special interest groups to collect billions of dollars from banks under agreements that are kept secret. Even the citizens that these groups purport to represent have no way of knowing how the groups spend the money they get from banks. That s why I hope the Senate will approve a sunshine amendment that will add accountability to this process and bring these agreements into, the light of day.
Entire industries could be wiped out or move overseas.
The economic impact would be devastating for the United States. We would see the loss of millions of jobs, entire industries would flee to other countries, our people would face higher fuel costs, higher taxes, leading to lower productivity and a lower standard of living.
It is impossible to reach a mandated recycling level unless you take all the people in New York City, put them in prison, and force them to recycle.…I think the law is absurd.

I understand it is called a minimum wage bill, but in fact it is a layoff bill….Kids will lose their jobs, minorities will lose their jobs, senior citizens will lose their jobs. In small towns, in center cities, marginal businesses will be devastated.
The quickest way to kill jobs is to have this ordinance pass. It is dumb and dangerous.
More money could be available for worker safety and health if we cut back on bureaucratic administration, because an OSHA/MSHA merger would end duplicative costs, duplicative employees and duplicative actions.
