In January 1990, the DuPont Company testified that accelerating the phase-out of ozone-depleting CFCs to July 1, 1996, would cause ‘severe economic and social disruption.’

Most importantly, these regulations will bring about changes in the dentist-patient relationship and make it more difficult to practice dentistry….Patients need a warm and trusting relationship with their dentist to help overcome their fears and make necessary dentistry possible. It will be more difficult to establish this relationship when the dentist is gowned, shielded and masked. While being suitable for controlling infection, these techniques may create a different barrier - one that will have a profound effect on the relationship between the dentist and patient.
These changes will generate expenses that will ultimately be passed on to patients.
If you lose your tooth at home, you can leave it under your pillow for the tooth fairy. If the dentist removes it, the tooth fairy will have to consult the Government for its exact site.
This is a great example of railroading a program through the system without thought of who will be paying for it or why. There was no public hearing, no contact whatsoever with our industry. The program's goal is worthwhile, but the method of funding and the lack of public input is unconscionable
If someone can explain to me the rhyme or reason for saddling soft drinks with the cost of building prisons and tapping the phones of imprisoned drug offenders, I would like to hear it.
We just don't have the technology to comply [with Clean Air Act regulations]….[not even with] technology on the horizon.
[Mandating that businesses share trade secrets with the EPA is a] formidable burden [that may] ruin many businesses.
[Do we really need] strict regulations or to go in with fines?
